 Michael Ignatieff is a Canadian born writer and historian. He is currently a professor at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. He is the author of a number of books including the triology: "Blood and Belonging"; "The Warrior's Honour" and "Virtual War". Mr. Ignatieff's family history, "The Russian Album" won a Governor General's Award in 1988. His novel, "Scar Tissue" was nominated for the 1993 Booker Prize. He is the biographer of the liberal philosopher Isaiah Berlin. "The Needs of Strangers", is a book recommended for those interested in rethinking how we might care for each other in a modern society. The book, "The Rights Revolution", is also the title of the 2000 Massey Lectures and acknowledges the work of Philia.
