Jean Vanier

Jean Vanier is the son of former Governor General Georges Vanier and founder of L’Arche, an international network of communities for people with intellectual disabilities.  He established the first L’Arche community in 1964, in Trosly, France with Raphael Simi and Philippe Seux.  Today over 103 communities exist in Europe, Asia, Africa, South and North America.  In 1998 Vanier delivered the CBC Massey Lecture which was subsequently published in the best seller, Becoming Human.
